The Little Fingers ‘Ukulele’ Club
For students with little fingers, The Little Fingers Club helps our budding guitarists learn guitar by learning ukulele first.
For those budding little Rock Gods under or around the age of seven we have ukulele tutoring which is easy, fun and all the skills are transferable to guitar. In fact, even if you’re older it’s a great little instrument.
Where The Little Fingers Club Started
The Little Fingers Club started in Fleetwood with an enthusiastic bunch of young schoolchildren. It’s aimed at schools but any group of young children would benefit from this.
Not convinced that it’s a serious instrument? Then take a look at the videos and think about that budding little Guitar God! Who says ukulele isn’t cool? Watch them because George Harrison would have approved being a big ukulele fan. He didn’t just play sitar you know!
Why The Little Fingers Club Started
The problem with learning guitar at an early age is finding an instrument which will allow the development of complex techniques and movements required in order to fulfil a hungry young mind’s eagerness to play music. We don’t want any child to lose that passion for an instrument that brings so much delight to so many people.
Children can find it hard to handle guitars, even those designed for them. It takes a certain period of time to learn basics that are almost second nature on a ukulele. During this learning curve a lot of children don’t continue with the guitar.
The ukulele provides immediate fulfilment of a child’s goal to play something recognisable. The fact that it looks and feels like a guitar to a child is appealing. However, its size and play-ability make it ideal. This is essential to harnessing the enthusiasm of a child and motivating them to continue.
Even more importantly the ukulele shows a child they can succeed whilst learning essential skills that are completely transferable to a guitar. What’s more is it’s also fun – a key ingredient.
